He is the world’s foremost authority on the life and music of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. A champion of music by living and neglected composers, Daniel is a recipient of the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music award and has worked closely and conducted the premieres of works by numerous composers, including Adolphus Hailstork, Giya KanchelI, Libby Larsen, Tania Léon, Arturo Márquez, Nkeiru Okoye, Fred Onovwerosuoke, Hampson Sisler, Eino Tamberg and George Walker.
Educated in both Europe and the United States, he studied at Manhattan School of Music and the Prague Academy. He earned diplomas from Fontainebleau in France and Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Spain. His conducting teachers have included Jiří Bělohlávek, David Gilbert, Tomáš Koutník, Miriam Němcová and Jorma Panula, with whom he keeps a close relationship. He has also received advice from Sir Simon Rattle at the Berliner Philharmonie and Iván Fischer at the Beethovenfest Bonn.
Daniel has held positions as Associate Conductor of the Praga Sinfonietta, Principal Guest Conductor of the Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra and the inaugural Music Director for the Colour of Music Festival. He has been a guest lecturer with Tafelmusik, Opera America, Lunigiana International Music Festival, and at Columbia and Yale Universities.
Currently, he is active internationally as a guest conductor and is Artistic and Music Director of the Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges, Music Director of Ensemble du Monde (chamber orchestra), Founder and Music Director of ACYO (All Caribbean Youth Orchestra) and Associate Conductor of Florida Grand Opera. Most recently he has been featured on SONY Entertainment popular podcast “They Did That!” and the new critically acclaimed recording Total Tango: Music of Ástor Piazzolla. This year 2024, he has also been appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of the Orchestra of the Universität Münster Musikhochschule Münster.
